Think of pestilence, famine, starvation, severe hunger, high maternal and infant mortality rate, high level of illiteracy, high criminalities by ever soaring rates of crimes from the abject poverty living of the citizens, self-inflict disasters and others that are reducing human beings into animals and beasts, they are in the third world nations. Activism in the author brought him to the thought which he wrote verbatim “why should the African nations and others in the world be poor and living in abject poverty? Don’t they endow with the same natural resources as the rich nations in the world? How are they utilizing the endowments at their disposal? Why should the leaders of third world nations be riding chauffeur and customized cars? Why should be using fleet of exotic cars as convoys despite the level of low income? The trouble shooting writer and author Abdulateef Amusa verbatim scripted ‘a popular programme in Nigeria says ‘One-day Governor’ started at the outset of the fourth republic in Lagos should be enshrined in the national constitution’. He emphasized that this theme should be embraced by the third world nations to learn how to run a nation in order to be free from the shackles of abject poverty in all facets of life. After all, they are endowed with land, water and climatic conditions including human assets endowed the rich nations. Without mincemeat of words, the abject poverty stricken third world nations are liabilities to the rich nations of the world despite the abundance in natural resources in all the ecosystems. By all standards, the third world nations have human and non-human resources that are not available in most of the rich nations today. To him, how should the naturally endowed nation be folding its arms looking at the waters running within and around their geographical locations for centuries without thinking about how to use the resources to exterminate the deficits in foods production and epileptic supplies of electricity to power the homes, offices and industries? Why should a nation with large forest be having crises with health challenges? What are they doing with the herbs, sap and other medicinal plants in the forests? Why are they having issues with what to wear, where to live and what to use to feed the industries? What hinders them from replacing the trees that were fell for their use? Why did they abandon the fertile arable lands for commercial agricultural plantation? By his standpoint, ‘give the third world nations crying for food supports and waters including drugs to the brains behind the modern Dubai not to talk of the Great China of today for just a year and they would transform the nations into the hubs of entrepreneurs and tourists within short time! What are the resources behind the success of the advanced nations with lesser endowments? The leaders are bereft of ideas and foresight. By this lack of foresight, the future is bleak and they do not know how to save for a rainy day. Most of them lack the patriotic, visionary and selfless political philosophers like Chairman Mao Zedongs, Lew Kuan Yews, Wilsons Indira Gandhis and the likes. By the spirit of patriotism, the leaders have vision which selfless service is prime. The leaders in the third world nations are wasteful in spending on misplaced priorities especially to satisfy the elites at the peril of the majority that are poor; they are bad in maintenance culture of the existing utilities and corruption in different forms add fuels to the inability to exit the level of poverty. In this book, the primary causes of abject poverty in the third world nations are identified. With the reversals of the causes, there is a very high possibility for moving up the ladder and escape the rotten position in the ladder of the poor nations.
