In The Moment Manager is a story about Quest, a business graduate who takes jobs in different companies to learn about business and figure out which type of business would be a good fit in which to spend his career. While Quest works at different businesses, be recognizes significant differences in management styles and begins to wonder if there is one management style that is universally effective. Then Quest meets John, a manager in a medium sized manufacturing organization with a product that provides some complexity and challenge in the manufacturing process. John is different. He is organization centric, focused, and uses his awareness to drive his decisions. It turns out John is an 'In the Moment Manager', or IMM. Through a series of meetings with John, Quest learns what it means to be an IMM and how the management style works. Quest concludes the IMM management approach is a very effective, and he chooses that path for himself.
