Digital projects for organisations go well when there is a clear map of what the technology will do to support the organisation's goals and how it will get there. Digital projects fail when they are opaque - people don't understand why the technology is there, what it is meant to do to help them, and how it will do that. We need more map makers – and also we need map makers who understand the forces which make technology opaque, and be ready to take them on. Map making should be great fun, if you like working with people to figure out how things work and how to make them better
