How is that book different from other supply chain management books? Many books present specific supply chain strategies as a stand-alone solution or solely a concept for a supply chain strategy. This book looks from both perspectives creating an integrated strategic approach to manage supply chains. Practitioners can use this book to understand why a supply chain strategy map is needed, how it is applied, and how the different perspectives and elements are related to each other to adapt the supply chain strategy map to their own needs. Further, practitioners can reflect their strategic approach and use, i.e., the presented supply chain KPI´s as a stimulus for adaptations and improvements. Moreover, Chapter 2 provides an overview of well-known supply chain strategies as an initial step to integrate relevant aspects of the stand-alone supply chain strategies into an integrated supply chain strategy. This book intends to transfer essential knowledge about supply chain strategies and its relation to business processes, operations, and how practitioners can design a horizontal collaborative setting. However, other supply chains and logistic aspects of supply chain business processes are not part of this book.
