For those of you reading this book and are thinking of making sales your career or are moving into sales then the good news is that a sales career can be the most interesting, the most rewarding and the most varied yet changeable career there is. Of course it is not always easy but then any career with such high potential rewards never is.The other good news is that the sales profession as a whole has improved its public image considerably since I started to sell back in the 1970s. Then it was all about targets, how to get a sale and the quickest way to achieve that. Now some fifty years later over a gradual period of time, sales concentrates more on understanding its clients better, the emphasis is far more on working towards a happy, satisfied customer by helping to meet their needs.So while this is exactly the right path to be going down, it does highlight a number of new challenges when attempting to be a first class sales person. These I will be discussing later in this book. It only leaves me to say that wise investment of your time in terms of training, studying and listening will help to achieve great rewards.
